Food and Item Donations
Due to limited space and staff, items are accepted Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekend donations are by appointment only.
We can only accept the equivalent of 2 large trash bags worth of items per donation. Please be sure your items are in a bag or container that you can leave with us, we are not able to transfer belonging into alternate containers at the time of donation.
During the holiday season, we temporarily stop accepting regular donations. Please be sure to check our website for closing announcements.
For Thanksgiving, we would appreciate gift cards for turkeys, fresh vegetables (potatoes, squash, celery, green beans, corn), stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, pies.
For Christmas, we assist current and former residents through the Adopt-A-Family Program. Each family writes a “wish list” that is provided to a generous community member or group. During the week before Christmas, donors bring gifts to Lucy’s Hearth and staff and volunteers wrap and distribute presents to our many needy families. For more information about adopting a family, please contact us!
Food: We accept canned goods and non-perishable food, as well as prepared food and fresh vegetables and fruit. If you are planning a food drive for Lucy’s Hearth, please call us first. Please work with us to plan ahead!
Furniture: We always need beds, dining sets, bureaus, bookcases, end tables, and, often, sofas. Furniture must be in good condition. *We do not store furniture on-site at Lucy’s Hearth. We will take information about the donor and furniture and try to match it up with a family in need. The furniture donation/matching process can take 1-2 weeks so we ask that you call well in advance.
Towels: We are always looking for donations of towels!
Small appliances in good working order: Toasters, microwaves, mixers, and coffee pots.
Clothing: We can only accept small amounts of seasonal clothing for men, women and children.
